The Power of Nature
Autumn is here! That means lovely crunchy leaves, colourful trees and chilly mornings. What better time is there than this to get out into nature and enjoy its many benefits? Exercise is great and it can be made even better by getting out and about in the countryside. It’s incredibly healing and has such a positive effect on your body and mind. A simple daily walk will help you to clear your mind, unwind and get some fresh air. It does you good to get away from the tall buildings and busy traffic of a city or town every now and again.
If you can’t go exploring in the countryside a nice park will do. London and other cities have so many beautiful parks where you can have a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you have to study you could even take some reading to do while you spend time outdoors and enjoy the air. There are also clubs where you can do yoga in the park as well as many other activities that are worth taking a look at.
Take some time to reconnect with nature and yourself. One idea is to take a relaxing walk through the park with a coffee or hot chocolate, you could do this on your lunch break or on the weekend if you struggle for time. Pay attention to your surroundings and look at the trees, breathe, enjoy your views and make the most of the time you spend there.
Being in nature has been proven to lower stress and other negative emotions. It also has a physical impact, lowering blood pressure and relaxing the body and mind. Even pictures of nature can have a positive effect on your mood so why not make your screensaver or phone wallpaper a pleasant natural scene and see if it helps you with stress while you study or work? You can even bring nature into your home with houseplants and natural scents in a diffuser. There are so many natural scents that each hold their own positive properties, some can calm you, some invigorate and some can even help you to sleep.
So why not try and take a short walk, or longer if you can, every day? Just a twenty-minute wander through a park is enough to feel a difference. Find a natural space that makes you feel happy and relaxed and enjoy reconnecting and relaxing each day, you could even explore new places if you have the time. Take a book, take a drink and take care of yourself.
